May in Chicago land can be iffy… not on this stunner of a Saturday at the end of May! We truly lucked out with such an incredible day at Ravisloe Country Club. There were so many things besides the amazing weather that made this May wedding in Chicago one to remember. Let’s get into some of those things!
The Couple
Abby & Lincoln could not be any sweeter. From the moment we started the planning process with them we knew it was going to be a great time. From start to finish Abby and Lincoln were calm, cool, collected and so so kind. They met because one of Abby’s best friends had “this brother Lincoln in the Navy”. At the time they met he was stationed in the Philippines. What better place for a first date?! Abby being the trusting and fearless girl she is (also knowing her best friend wouldn’t say it was a good idea to fly across the world for a first date with just anyone) took the leap and headed to the Philippines for her and Lincoln’s first date! Talk about action packed from the start! Abby and Lincoln had a beautiful action packed day celebrating their love. Lincoln in his dress blues and Abby in her perfect dress, they couldn’t have been any cuter. One of my favorite unique moments was the cake cutting, they cut their cake with a sword! It was such a wow moment.
The May Wedding Design
Abby and Lincoln alongside Abby’s mom had such a great planning committee already. They wanted our partnership in running their day as well as some design help. Sarah, their lead planner, attended floral meetings, meetings at the venue, and perfected all décor for their May wedding in Chicago. Their floral design was absolutely stunning. The livelihood and freshness it brought to the space was incredible. After seeing the floral inspiration, Sarah knew it would make an impact in the venue space. At one of the meetings at Ravisloe Country Club when discussing linens, Sarah helped Abby and her mom decide on a beautiful navy linen for all the reception tables. This made the room look so elegant. The bright beautiful flowers popped off that navy linen so well.
The Wedding Vibe
Along with all the design choices came the thought of what we wanted the feel to be. We wanted it all to feel springy, romantic, classic, bright, and fresh. The florals kept that springy bright feel at the top of mind. The florist even added greenery to the chandeliers in the reception venue to truly embody the romantic yet fresh vibe. Another way we honed in on the romance was candles. Candles everywhere, votives, floating candles, gold candle sticks. It was truly beautiful to see all these elements come together.
The People
Every time Sarah checked in with Abby or Abby’s mom she told them that all their guests were truly having an amazing time! I think the guests felt the couples love from the start of the ceremony to the end of the reception and truly gave them something to celebrate! Something we love to see and we love to communicate. The guests loved their meal, they loved the cake, they loved the photo booth. They all had such a great time, it was so evident. The DJ kept the party going and kept the guests on the dance floor. I mean we all know throwing the biggest party of your life can be daunting but seeing the guests enjoy it is so worth it.
The Amazing Vendor Team
Where to start with this crew?! It was such a great group of people who all had the same goal in mind, to help Abby and Lincoln have the best May wedding in Chicago ever. Being on the same page and having open communication among us vendors just makes all of our jobs easier! We truly loved working with all of these amazing vendors and would be thrilled to work with them again in the future.
